Scarves 101 - Hijab Scarf

The most common fabric for scarf or headscarf or hijab in Indonesia (well I guess big cities like Jakarta Bandung) is what we called Paris cotton. A square fabric that is not too slick so it won’t slip. It is not only so soft but also lightweight so it can easily wrap the head. It is not a see through and comfortable as well.

The price is about IDR 15.000 (US$1.50) or if you lucky enough you will get each IDR 12.500.

For hijab beginner, be sure that you have 5 basic colors above. From our experience, these are the most flexible colors that we can play around with our clothes. Once you get addicted to the material you can start adding them to every outfit you have. The paris cotton surprisingly available in different color. Some with motifs and some with gradation dyed color.
The price goes around IDR 35.000 (US$ 4.00) until IDR 70.000 (US$ 7.50). The paris cotton also have the one embroidered border. My personal taste, I am not into embroidered border. I don’t know.. I look old wearing those one unless the simple one. The less the better. Don’t forget to buy at (what we called) ITC. It is much cheaper. Don’t go to any big stores. They will rip you off.
My other choice goes to cotton (picture bottom). It is a perfect fabric when you go exercising. Its comfy, cozy and absorb sweat. I bought it from Zara kids IDR 150.000 (US$ 15.7). The fabric from regular Zara is too heavy and too big. A branded scarf is more like collectible item but you can also buy the fabrics from a decent fabrics store and adjust the shape.
Once it goes together well. Somehow you will know what its like when you just get a comfortable fabric run together really well with your dresses. One leads to another then somehow you are having more colors and motifs and fabrics more than you had expected.
After that you could convince yourself that you had achieved some great ways to made your scarf run together well with all your suits.
